MAGNUS Wellness Certification
A left-of-bang coaching program for CISM-certified peers
Program Snapshot
- Who it’s for: CISM-trained peer supporters, wellness team members, front-line supervisors, chaplains, and dispatch/corrections peers who want to prevent crises—not just respond to them.
- What it is: A 2.5-day, 10-block certification that equips participants to coach proactively using the MAGNUS Ovea performance model, the Green–Yellow–Red–Black stress continuum, and identity-based habit formation.
- How it complements CISM: CISM is essential for right-of-bang (post-incident) care. MAGNUS adds a left-of-bang toolkit—language, micro-skills, and reinforcement systems—to stabilize stress earlier and build durable capacity between incidents.
- Delivery: Immersive instruction with live drills, scenario labs, and hands-on use of the MAGNUS|One mobile app for assessments, coaching notes, and reinforcement plans.
- Credential: MAGNUS Performance Coach (certificate awarded upon successful knowledge check, observed coaching demo, app proficiency, and 30-day action plan).
What Participants Will Be Able to Do
- Detect & name stress early using a common lexicon (Green/Yellow/Red/Black) and “coach back to regulation.”
- Run a 10-minute coaching conversation (field-ready): Observe → Assess (Color/Ring) → Align → Plan (tiny habit) → Reinforce → Close.
- Build identity-anchored micro-habits with implementation intentions and realistic “on-ramps” for tough days.
- Design reinforcement schedules that beat the forgetting curve (D2/D7/D14/D30 pulses).
- Use the MAGNUS|One app to complete assessments, capture (de-identified) session notes, set reminders, and track progress.
- Integrate with CISM pathways—clear thresholds, ethical documentation, and fast handoffs to clinical or CISM teams.
- Stand up a 30-60-90 day agency playbook with roles, comms, and simple metrics (participation, color-state trends, habit adherence, near-miss captures).
Curriculum Highlights (2.5 Days • 10 Blocks)
Day 1 (AM)
- Block 1: Orientation & Assessments — MAGNUS Ovea overview; baseline 11 Rings assessment in the app.
- Block 2: Stress Continuum & Elasticity — Language, regulation micro-drills, and the Elasticity concept; compare personal color maps.
Day 1 (PM)
- Block 3: Adult Learning & Ebbinghaus — Build your 30-day reinforcement plan with in-app pulses.
- Block 4: Micro-Coaching Skills — OARS, growth-language swaps, 10-minute coaching map, documentation ethics.
Day 2 (AM)
- Block 5: 11 Rings Lab I — Select your top growth ring; craft a ≤2-minute habit with evidence of completion.
- Block 6: 11 Rings Lab II — Choose a leverage ring; write If-Then plans + WOOP; add primary/fallback reminders.
Day 2 (PM)
- Block 7: Applied Scenarios — Patrol, Dispatch, Investigations, Custody, Admin; triads with rubrics; boundaries & referral drills.
- Block 8: Mindset & Habit Masterclass — Identity statements, on-ramp design, friction audits, self-compassion for relapse recovery.
Day 3 (AM)
- Block 9: Agency Playbook — RACI roles, referral map aligned to CISM, comms cadence, metrics & governance.
- Block 10: Capstone & Certification — Knowledge check, live coaching demo, app proficiency check, 30-day coach plan.
Tools You’ll Use
- Assessments: 11 Rings baseline; optional elasticity snapshot for personal insight.
- App Workflows: Habit creation (tagged to a Ring), D2/D7/D14/D30 pulses, daily check-ins/streaks, de-identified Session Notes, resource hub (CISM/EAP/crisis lines).
- Coaching Aids: Countermeasure cards by color state, pocket SOP (Recognize → Regulate → Coach → Refer → Record), observer rubrics, playbook canvas.

Format & Logistics
- Length: 2.5 days (two 3-hour blocks per full day; two blocks on day three).
- Structure: ~85 minutes instruction + 10-minute break per block; 1-hour lunch.
- Requirements: Smartphone access to the MAGNUS|One app; willingness to practice in triads; respect for confidentiality.
- Prerequisite: CISM certification (or equivalent) strongly preferred; this program is designed to complement—not replace—CISM.
